Sometimes wedding invites can be political. You might feel obligated to invite that uncle you haven’t seen in a decade when a family member you really want there, your beloved fur-baby, create a logistical hiccup.

If it’s important to you to have your favourite pet attend your special day or even be part of the ceremony, it’s not out of the question.

Pets are increasingly being involved in wedding celebrations, from serving as ring or flower bearers to making a cameo appearance in the wedding photoshoot.

Yarra Valley Pet Resort has been working with couples to allow them to include their furriest family members with ease. Located within close proximity to many wineries and popular wedding venues, they regularly work with couples to ensure having their beloved pet in attendance isn’t overwhelming.

‘Pets are family and having your best friend at your wedding can be a wonderful experience, but the thought of planning it may seem a little overwhelming,” says Kiera Heatherich, pets at weddings coordinator at Yarra Valley Pet Resort.

“We offer several different wedding packages to suit both you and your pets needs for an incredibly special day. Packages include pet transport to and from the venue in our professionally equipped van for safety and comfort, experienced pet handlers to assist on the day and much more. All of this is to make sure your pets wedding day experience is stress-free, enjoyable and to make sure you all have the most pawfect day.”

For something a little extra special, they’ll even organise a grooming session for your pet complete with a wash, blow-dry and even a bow tie, flower necklace or outfit if required.

Yarra Valley Pet Resort can assist with transportation, pet minding and even boarding after the event.

“We, like most venues, allow pets onsite for some family photos, we have a great supplier on our list who is a dog sitter and will pick up your dog, bring them to the venue for some pictures and take them home for dinner,” says Georgia Konig Lazzarotto of Vue on Halcyon.

And if you’ve no pet of your own, but love the idea, they have a solution for that too.

“We do also have two alpacas which are a part of the Vue,” she adds. “They are very friendly and love when our couples pop over to see them, always very curious as to what is going on.

“We find most photographers love to capture them in couples’ photos as you just never know what kinds of photos you will get or how they will react,” she adds.
